For Langley City Council

I will create attainable housing opportunities as everyone needs and deserves a place to live. It is crucial that every person in Langley City has access to housing. To make sure that as a community we satisfy our housing requirements, I will continue to engage with all levels of government. We must address the gaps in our housing inventory, from rentals to single-family ownership, to ensure that everyone has a place to live. Residents in Langley City need to be able to prosper, start families, and age in place without feeling compelled to move elsewhere due to cost. They shouldn't be compelled to leave because of the economy; they should only do it voluntarily. In order to build a diverse and equitable community, I will keep fighting to safeguard our rental properties and their tenants as well as to develop affordable housing choices. A community for everyone!

I will safeguard the residents of Langley and the city itself, by placing a high priority on public safety. Public safety is at the top of mind when having conversations with residents, and business owners in Langley City. Currently our police budget is our single largest expense, yet the current model seems to come up short and is not working effectively. As a council we need to review the policing model that currently exists and as a community we need to become actively involved in what a new model looks like. We require participation from residents, business, industries, and service providers to work with council and our RCMP to develop a Langley-made city model that will serve our community more effectively. 
We must have a community where everyone is heard and feels safe, a community for everyone!

I will work with council members and staff to ensure that we create the sort of community and future that all residents and businesses deserve in light of the upcoming arrival of Skytrain. In addition to making sure that the property is used properly and that investments are based on solid data, I'll also make sure that there are more public places available and that utilities are maintained to meet future requirements. I'll see to it that we examine our bylaw, fire, and operations department needs in order to create a timely and effective action plan to fulfil the demands and growing expectations that growth will bring to our town. By conducting appropriate evaluations, setting aside money, planning ahead, and repairing old city infrastructure before they fail, I will make sure that our deteriorating roads, sidewalks, underground utilities, and other assets are maintained and improved. Taking a proactive approach to our infrastructure will ensure we maintain a community for everyone!

I will continue to fight for the preservation and repair of the damaged environment caused by human activities. I'll see to it that our trails, parks, and green spaces—current environmental treasures—are preserved, protected, and enhanced. To lessen the heat island effect brought on by concrete, asphalt, and buildings, I'll see to it that environmental elements are incorporated into new construction, especially along the future SkyTrain track. The series of climate-related incidents that have affected BC have shown how important our natural ecosystem is. Residents during Covid have expressed their appreciation for our open areas, and I will work to keep them pristine, well-maintained, and pleasant for everyone in our community!
